Cinderella starts with the death of her mother and the marriage of her father to a woman who already had two daughters from before. All three newcomers immediately turn Cinderella's life into a living hell.
She is forced to work all day, sleeping in ashes, having only a tree, growing on her mother's grave and some birds as some consolation.
When the king in the country decides to throw a ball, so his son can find a bride, Cinderella asks to visit the dance too. Stepmother gives her condition - she has to pick the lentils from ashes in a very short period of time.
This seemingly impossible task was solved with the help of her feathery friends. Cinderella made her part of the deal.
The wicked stepmother laughs at her and says she still can't go because she has no appropriate dress. She even makes sure of that by cutting the old dress by her deceased mom. Then she left for the castle where the first of three days of ball was about to start.
Cinderella goes to the backyard where the tree grows and cries. Her wish is fulfilled. She gets a spectacular dress.
So Cinderella goes to the castle where nobody recognizes such a beautiful girl. The prince is immediately enchanted with her presence and wants to dance with her only.
Cinderella goes dancing three evenings in a row. The prince can't stop enjoying her company. Yet he can't find out who is she. He only knows she rund away at midnight.
He tries to stop her by putting some glue on the staircase. Cinderella still escapes but one of her golden slippers is lost.
A golden slipper is the only trace of the mysterious beauty. The prince decides to find her by offering every girl in the neighborhood to try the slipper.
If the shoe fits, she is the right person. He publicly announces he will marry the girl with the foot that goes in the slipper.
Many girls try and none succeeds. Until finally Cinderella sits in front of the prince and her identity is discovered.
Cinderella marries the prince and her wicked stepmother and stepsisters are cruelly punished.
As you probably noticed, this version differs from the much more known and popular version written by Charles Perrault (with glass, not golden slippers) and a fairy godmother (in this case, the Brothers Grimm replaced her with a magic tree). Today the most beloved version of Cinderella by Walt Disney is also based on Perrault's story.
